We’d like to help you understand what’s expected during the recruitment process, and so here are a few tips.

  • When applying:

    • Apply for the roles that excite you the most!

    • Contact us if you have any queries or want to know more about the job and the team.

    • Think about how your values align with ours and bring them to life in the application and interview.

    • Link your personal statement to the Person Specification and Job Description.

    • Highlight your previous work/life experience.

    • Pay attention to any the grammar / typing errors.

    • Add a little personality - share a little bit about yourself (for example, your interests). ​

    • Don't be afraid to ask questions. Think about what you want to know at interview.

  • Tips for the interview

    • Do your research on Middlesbrough Children’s Services.

    • If you’re unsure of a question, ask the interviewer to repeat it.

    • It’s okay to ask if you can go back to a question.

    • If there is a case study – make notes and show your workings out - you do know it!

    • Prepare some questions for the interviewers – if you are a newly qualified for example, ask about the ASYE offer. Whatever the role, ask about Continuous Professional Development.
