​​​​​​Middlesbrough Children Matter has a job vacancy for a Casual Residential Worker to work in a Children's Home based in Middlesbrough offering a pay rate of £11.02 per hour + £81 per sleep shift. The following enhancements to pay may also apply to this role: Time and half for Sunday hours & Double time for bank holidays.

The successful candidate will be part of a team who drive the children’s homes statement of purpose and ensue that children in our care are safe, well cared for and have the opportunity to participate in community based activities to develop their skills, competence and self-esteem. The home provides care for a small number of children and young people with Autism and Learning disabilities. We are committed to Restorative Practice when working with young people and their families.

The successful candidate will provide a high quality of care and support, which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, behavioral, health, social and cultural needs of the children and families for whom the home provides a service. This will include working with children with very challenging behaviour, complex emotional problems, mental health disorders and other additional/special needs.

The post holder will be based initially in a named home, but will be expected to be prepared to work in any Middlesbrough Children’s Home or Centre as required and to plan support for children who are living in the community.

Requirements of the Post include:

  • Have a recognised QCF level 3 diploma in Residential care in working with children and young people or an equivalent qualification.

  • Experience of working with children and young people.

  • An understanding of child development and challenging behaviour.

  • A positive attitude and the ability to work with young people.

  • You will also be required to work unsocial hours - including weekends, bank holidays and nights.

  • A Full UK Driving License is a requirement for this post.
